Two humans made such a difference to the once populated areas of The Howling Domain. Two humans rode in on horses one smoggy afternoon with the winds blowing, they had come to explore, to see if the legends had been true, to see if this place really was populated by as many wolves as so many have said. They were not afraid, like they should have been. They settled into a campsite they made, their fire burning up the tree limbs they threw along with any brush that helped the fire grow. The fire scorched up into the sky, the wolves in that area abruptly looked to these creatures, cautiously and didn’t know what they were capable of. One small puppy, heir to the alpha moved away during the night from the pack towards the humans. The humans graciously opened their arms to the pup and fed him food resulting in the son of the alpha not wanting leave them. The mother, queen of The Howling Domain walked through the area, her voice calling for her pup. The two humans looked to her callings but paid not mind to her continuing to study the pup, his reactions and what he did. The mother entered the campsite, her eyes filled with blood as she entered and killed both of the humans and leaving their fire unattended. Soon enough the fire went out of control, spreading across the lands and killing many wolves and creatures that lived in that area. Even the queen and her son died in attempting to escape the fire’s clutches. Eventually the fire was tame and subsided, but it left corpses along the territory that eventually dissolved in the dirt never to be seen again. It is heard at times the calling of the mother wolf can be heard, she looks to be reunited with her pack, her small pup that she sacrificed her life for, by her side. The lands slowly started to recover and blossom, not many wolves decide to come back to these lands out of fear for the tales, out of fear the humans will come back again and that a repeat of the fire will happen. Resulting in this fact is many species of prey come here to seek refuge which is slowly starting to bring back the wolf numbers….this is The Howling Domain.

“A heart? I’ve never once known a brute with a heart. You’re all the same, posturing and pretending you’re so great. You’re nothing!”she snapped back, unable and unwilling to defend her alignment. Truthfully, she agreed with every word he spoke of the darks. She despised the darkness in herself, but it was there..rooted in her pain and fear and rage.
As he moved closer, Reia took step after step backwards, hackles rising warily.
“Back off.”she warned him in a cold tone, though her heart was beating madly with fear. She hated anyone so close to her, anyone at all, but especially males.
It brought up bad memories..hated memories of breath that smelled of blood, claws rending her flesh..black eyes darkened with hatred and insanity.
Shaking her head, she scurried back farther, tripping over her own paws and falling with a thump.
But she was up quickly again, fangs bared in response to his demonstration of darkness.
“Maybe I will..Maybe I should already be dead!”She spat back, injecting bravado that she didn’t feel into her tone, trying not to appear scared.
But she was..she always was.
And she hated it.

“Maybe indeed,” Blake replied teeth snapping together making a small noise. He kept his ground, she had spunk, if he had been her own kind he was sure the brute would have snapped by now and she would be lying into pieces at his feet. That’s what his father would have done, he knew that without a second thought. But Blake was not his father, he was not his mother, he was his own wolf and nothing would change such things. He saw her cower away, head dipped low in nothing but fear, respect had even crossed her mind. “If I am no threat to you little one, then why do you hide like you do? Why not try to dominate, like your little dark mind would want to do,” Blake asked. Blake nodded softly. He saw the immediate fear being cast into her eyes, something that Blake never saw in the eyes of a dark. He swallowed softly a wad of spit that had gathered in his mouth and felt it swish down his throat, the light side of his heart was taking over. He took a step next to her and pushed his dark muzzle onto her, his pink tongue fell out of his mouth and swished comfortably over her dirty pelt. “You’re not a dark, you weren’t born to be on,” Blake stated sitting back on his haunches. “You weren’t meant to be one,” he stated shaking his head in a matter of fact way.

She cringed slightly when his teeth snapped together with a small sound, eyes trained carefully upon his face. She had no answers to his questions, no way to defy or defend herself against his words.
It was true..
He was a threat to her, but only because she had learned that all males were a threat, that to be touched could bring only pain.
Her words were nothing but lies, attempts to be strong and unafraid, to rid herself of the crippling psychological weakness. She was afraid to get close to anyone, but equally afraid to remmain alone forever.
Frame cringed away again and low growl erupted from her throat when he stepped to her side and pushed his muzzle onto her pelt, tongue licking at the mahogany mass. It was gentle, but her immediate response had been the fear of pain.
Still tense, she let out a quiet breath as he sat back, still more comfortable with some distance.
But she wasn't hurt as she had been sure she would be.
"Then what am I?"her tone was quiet for the first time, without the trace of arrogance and meanness. There was uncertainty in those too-wise eyes, fixed upon the bigger wolf with more curiosity than fading fear.

Blake sat motionless and watched as she slowly backed away. He pondered her question for a moment, what was she? He moved his head forward, “Only your soul can decide that hon.” but I can tell that you won’t cut it being a dark, not with your mouth, not with your personality,” he said shaking his head, lowering it and licking his chest, he immediately followed with his paw coming through his fur to straighten it out. “What happened to you darlin’, what happened to make you so jumpy around me, around just a brute,” he said approaching once again to display to her how she really was acting, how she was jumpy around him. He could feel the fear at the pit of her stomach, she was nervous and her eyes were starting to show it now too. Her voice had cracked earlier too the fear was slowly creeping up her body by now, it was slowly starting to take over.

Hearing his response to her quietly uttered question, she didn't dispute it but instead turned it over in her mind. Only her soul could decide? That made no sense to her on one level, but on another she understood.
She had gotten good at hiding many of her basic natures and thoughts, her mind forcing her soul to guard its secrets well.
But the fear wasnt' one she could guard.
Gaze fixed onto him closely when he asked his question, unsure of how to respond.
Frame shuddered slightly in reaction as she forced herself not to jump back, though she did instinctively cringe.
"My sire.."she wouldn't use the word 'father'. Not ever. "He hurt me."she admitted in a calm, almost dead tone.

Blake watched her; he knew it took every ounce of her being not to jump back. He didn’t move any further from that spot and he once again sat his rump in the grass. He thingyed his head a bit in an understand way to see the yearling that had been hidden when they had first met come out. She had been attacked by her own father? He frowned and shook his head, “I’m sorry little one,” he said. Of course he had had his own share of family abuse, he knew that. But he didn’t want to deep into the memory pools at that moment, no not at all. “I’ve had my share of problems too, but turning into a dark like the one that hurt you wouldn’t be the right choice, would it,” he asked, his neck stretching towards the sky in a wise fashion. He had quite a few years on the pup, a lot more experience, a bigger advantage, it was all in his favor. But his mother’s light intentions were pouring into him at that time, he could almost feel her next to him, tell him what to say next. He wanted to help this young pup, not the young dark, but the light soul that was inside of her.

Ears twitched slightly as she listened to him speak, settling in a more relaxed position when he didn't seem inclined to come any closer.
She was no longer so afraid, but she knew just because he had touched her without hurting her, and could talk to her kindly didn't mean that she would get over being so jumpy with him anytime soon, or with strangers at all.
But..maybe she could.
"No, I don't guess it is.."she responded thoughtfully, looking up at him with golden eyes that were serene and intent.
There wasn't fear, or hate, or coldness in them now, but they were shadows lurking just beyond.
The veneer of darkness that she had hidden behind was slowly ebbing away, erased by the few simple words and gestures of kindness rather than cruelty.
But she didn't know how to be anything else, was afraid that whatever had caused her father to despise her would incite the same reaction in someone else.
In her own way, just by staying, she was taking her first real risk.

Blake smirked, it seemed turning this little young femme was easier than he had imagined. She still had that tinge of hate simmering on the surface but he could push that further even farther into her ocean depths. A small wind ruffled his fur and he looked in it’s direction and out to the sun as it was going to be pitch black in this very place shortly. He tilted his head towards her, he didn’t want to ruin the progress he had made with her but he did have that other fae back in the lands to tend to during the night. For all Blake knew there could be another brute or fae at the borderlands. He needed to head back in his initial home direction but he was worried about the frail little pup. He got to his paws once again, “Why don’t you stay with me and a fae of mine,” he asked raising an eyebrow. “Well a fae that lives in my lands,” he said, Akara might have been under his control but he didn’t like they way it was phrased. “Care to join us,” he asked. “Unless you want to stay alone out here during the night,” he said looking up into the trees and the brush. Dangers were everywhere, Blake knew that but he figured that the little one wasn’t aware of all of the dangers; she had been hurt by her father yes so it would make sense that she knew she couldn’t trust everything but what about the little things? He got up and turned his back to her and started to move away from her. He turned his head slowly back to her, “Coming,” he asked.

Reia hesitated to accept his offer, unsure if it would be wise to go with him or not. It was a conflicting decision to make, because she really wanted to go, to be where she might feel safe and welcome...and yet..she was wary of trusting too easily.
Hesitantly, she moved to her paws as if she might follow, but then paused before she could take so much as a step.
Finally, after a small window of time, and when it seemed that he was going to leave with or without her, she nodded quickly.
"I'm coming."she responded, moving up near to him, though the conspicuous distance that made her most comfortable was still kept.
"You know.."she noted, "I don't even know who you are..."

Blake continued to walk and soon the waterfall was no longer in sight. He heard her voice and felt and heard her getting closer and closer as he walked. He was glad that she was deciding to follow him, he wasn’t sure if she could survive much longer. She was very skinny and looked like she needed some meat on her bones. He turned his head to her as she asked her his question. “Blake,” he said tipping his cranium lightly as somewhat of a formal introduction as he continued to walk. He turned his head forward in the direction that he was walking his paws fell to the soil; dust came and floated to his nose making him sneeze rather loud. “And what would your name be,” he asked after a moment of silence between them, a soft breeze the only thing that filled their ears.

Catching the sound of his name, Reia turned the word over and over in her mind, trying to equate the simple yet exotic sounding name with the neutral brute walking ahead of her.
It wasn't hard to do, as her only preconceived notion about him had been destroyed.
Mind having wandered, she was startled to hear him speak again, but nevertheless answered quickly.
"It's Reia."she responded, with a pride.
She loved her name, its meaning, it's sound.
Plume flicked lazily as she caught up to Blake, walking only a few short steps behind to let him lead the way.
